The game of the week was as Ben predicted the Ashland/Russell backyard rivalary. Ashland beat 2A power Belfry in overtime last week and this week they beat the top ranked 2A Red Devils in THREE overtimes stopping the states longest winning streak. It was a game of twists/turns. Ashland tied the game with about two minutes in regulation and Russell then marched down the field only to bobble the snap on a short FG try. Both teams scored TD's in the first OT, then Ashland missed a FG to win it in the second OT before prevailing in the third OT when Russell's FG attempt when wide right. Overall impression is that Ashland is pretty darn good even though they lost home opener to single A Raceland. They were the dominant team in the game.
