Week Five '3A' Preview
Off we go, into the district games...
2nd District Games
Bowling Green @ Logan County
Allen County-Scottsville @ Franklin-Simpson
The Wildcats picked their first win last week over Russellville. They'll look for their first district win over the scrappy Patriots.
Breckinridge County @ Warren East
3rd District Games
Central @ North Bullitt
It'd be a fine two weeks if Central could take care of both Bullitt East and North Bullitt. In all likelihood, the district championship would be theirs.
Bullitt East @ Atherton
Valley @ Fairdale
The Vikings look to build off an impressive district win against North Bullitt.
Waggener @ Jeffersontown
6th District Games
Anderson County @ Harrison County
West Jessamine @ East Jessamine
Don't write off 0-3 West Jessamine as of yet, as they've played a very challenging schedule featuring all 4A teams.
Western Hills @ Bourbon County
7th District Games
Clay County @ Letcher County Central
8th District Games
Johnson Central @ Lawrence County
Central, very quietly, has reached the four-win mark quite easily so far this season. A trip to Lawrence County shouldn't prevent the fifth win.
District Game of the Week
(6) Lexington Catholic @ Franklin County
The 6th District Championship will likely be decided in this game. Franklin County has been incredibly impressive this season, but the state champion Knights shouldn't be overlooked. A nice win last week over Scott County fuels their chances.
And the others...
--Crittenden County @ Calloway County
Class 3A District 1 has been very bad so far this season, but the Lakers have an excellent chance to pick up a solid area victory over an A school that has beaten a 3A school already (Logan County).
--Greenwood @ Hopkins County Central
Like their district rival Calloway County, Hopkins Central should take advantage of scheduling and pick up a big win over a big school. Greenwood is just 1-3, but losses to Bowling Green and Ballard should be considered.
--Nelson County @ South Oldham
After defeating Bullitt East in week one, Nelson County has dropped three straight. A win at surging South Oldham (3-1 record) would be a nice boost heading into district play.
--Frankfort @ Mason County
Frankfort heads east after being doubled up by rival Franklin County. Mason County has won three straight after dropping their season opener to Lafayette. This should be a good one on the Ohio River.
Game of the Week
--Southwestern @ Highlands
So what if Highlands has lost two straight? Consider the opponents: Cincinnati Elder and Louisville St. Xavier. Not exactly cupcake material there. Southwestern is no cupcake either, and the Bluebirds can't afford a letdown in this great matchup.
Other '3A' Games of note: Pendleton County @ Hopkinsville, Adair County @ Taylor County, Wayne County @ Russell County, Leslie County @ Grant County, Rowan County @ Madison Southern, McCreary Central @ Knox Central, Knott County Central @ Perry County Central (at Hazard), Wheelersburg (OH) @ Boyd County, South Point (OH) @ Greenup County
