Week Five '4A' Preview

First, the district games...

2nd District Games
--Owensboro @ Ohio County

5th District Games
--Trinity @ Southern
The Shamrocks should pick up their second district win this week, as they stomped Oldham County last weekend.
--Ballard @ Seneca
--Fern Creek @ Eastern
--Shelby County @ Oldham County
Shelby County has won two straight after dropping their season opener. For the Rockets' playoff chances, this is a must-win.

6th District Games
--Boone County @ Simon Kenton
Here's a great district matchup between two teams that have started hot and cold. Simon Kenton is 3-0 with big wins over Seneca and Covington Holy Cross. Boone County is 0-3, but the last two losses have come by a combined eight points.
--Ryle @ Campbell County
Ryle is moving up the kentuckypreps.com rankings, as the Raiders are now 19th. Campbell County, however, may offer a roadblock to Ryle's road to the top 15.
--Scott @ Dixie Heights
--Holmes @ Conner
Conner picked up a nice road win at Fern Creek last weekend. A district win over rival Holmes would be as equally nice.

7th District Games
--Dunbar @ Woodford County
--Lafayette @ Bryan Station
The Generals can't afford a letdown here after an exciting win over Boyle County last weekend. Every win in this district will be valuable.

8th District Games
--Montgomery County @ Madison Central
--North Laurel @ South Laurel
They both remain unranked, but that shouldn't detract from the excitement in London on Friday night. Besides the rivalry itself, the winner should be assured of a playoff spot.
--Lincoln County @ Whitley County
After upsetting Rockcastle County, the Patriots of Lincoln County must come back to earth quickly to take care of business against district rival Whitley County.

District Game of the Week
(7) Henry Clay @ Scott County
It seems the Blue Devils have played in many big games this season. This is their biggest so far, as the winner will be in the driver's seat in the 7th District. Look for an exciting game in Georgetown.

As for the other big games in Class 4A this weekend...

--Madisonville-North Hopkins @ Christian County
After a disappointing (but promising) four point loss at Henry Clay, the Colonels return to Western Kentucky. Awaiting them are the Maroons, who have nice wins over Fort Campbell and Ohio County in consecutive weeks.

--John Hardin @ Apollo
The Eagles of Apollo have raced to an impressive 4-0 start. Before district play begins, look for them to engage John Hardin in a great game in Owensboro.

--Meade County @ Manual
While many dismissed Manual as a contender, the Crimsons rallied last week to defeat a solid Warren Central team. They can build momentum for district play with a good win at home versus Meade County.

Game of the Week
--Henderson County @ North Hardin
While John Hardin heads west, North Hardin will stay put for an excellent matchup with Henderson County. The Trojans are looking to get back in the winning column after two straight losses; the Colonels look to push their three-game winning streak to four.

Other '4A' hosted games: Daviess County @ Warren Central, Murray @ Marshall County, Barren County @ Grayson County, Marion County @ Bullitt Central, Central Hardin @ Iroquois, Garrard County @ George Rogers Clark
