Week Four '2A' Preview

Our district games this Friday for Class 2A...

(1) Reidland @ Trigg County
(1) Lone Oak @ Caldwell County
Big game for both teams as they likely chase the '3' position in the first district.
(1) Muhlenberg South @ Webster County
(2) Hart County @ Edmonson County
With Monroe County and Glasgow down, the Wildcats can make a move up the district, starting with a win over Hart County.
(2) Butler County @ Todd County Central
(8) East Ridge @ Belfry

As for the rest of the crowd...

--Daviess County @ Owensboro Catholic
The Aces have failed their first two tests against city competition, losing to Owensboro and Apollo. Will the third time be the charm for Catholic? Daviess County is looking to rebound from a district blowout loss to Henderson County.

--Mercer County @ Garrard County
If the first three weeks of the season are any indication, it may be a long night for the Garrard County Golden Lions. Mercer County has been Titanic so far, averaging 58 points a game and allowing only six points total.

--Bullitt Central @ North Oldham
4A Bullitt Central is looking for another quality win before heading into district play. All thoughts would say this game would be a win, as North Oldham has dropped their first three games of the season.

--Boyd County @ Russell
The Red Devils are coming off a rare loss, this to area rival Ashland Blazer in an epic triple overtime battle. Look for one of 2A's finest to return to form against Boyd County, which has already lost to 2A foe Sheldon Clark.

--Clay County @ Knott County Central
Don't look now, but Clay County is 3-0, joining district titan Rockcastle County. The Tigers would love to go into district play at 4-0, but the Knott Central Patriots should provide a tough test for the 3A school.

--Paintsville @ Prestonsburg
An old Eastern Kentucky rivalry fires back up Friday, as Paintsville, which already owns two district wins, visits the Blackcats of Prestonsburg. The home team here is still looking for its first win of the season.

Game of the Week
--Lexington Christian @ Corbin
After three consecutive losses to start the season, Corbin is in desperate need of a first win. Lexington Christian will serve as a tough test however, as the Eagles have won their last two after being smoked by Mercer County.

Other '2A' hosted games: Iroquois @ Shawnee, Southern @ Moore, Green County @ Wayne County, Taylor County @ Casey County, Ludlow @ Newport, Eminence @ Henry County, Jackson County @ Spencer County, Mason County @ Morgan County, Nicholas County @ Fleming County, Fairview @ Lewis County, Lee County (VA) @ Middlesboro, Perry County Central @ Leslie County, Clay County @ Knott County Central, Evarts @ Cawood, Lawrence Ounty @ Pike County Central, Midland Trail (WV) @ Shelby Valley, Betsy Layne @ Magoffin County

Give some love to North Bullit in 3A - finished last season 8-3 and took Regional winner Bullitt East to double OT falling just short of winning the district. Started off '06 with wins over 2-1 Spencer County 40-14 and beat previously unbeaten Waggener 14-12 last Friday. Sophomore RB Dalton Cissell (1,046 yds rushing last season) has 401 yds rushing in first 2 games.

I would agree that Mercer County should be at the top of the rankings. Not quite sure I agree that they should be allowed to play in 2A with their size. I think Russell is ranked a little low and Trigg County a little high. Keep up the good work
