Week Six '3A' Preview
Moving on to Class 3A games, let's examine some of the top district games going on this weekend...
1st District Games
--Union County @ Calloway County
It's the district opener for both teams. Both teams are 2-3 on the season. Sounds like it'll be a close game.
--Madisonville-North Hopkins @ Hopkins County Central
2nd District Games
--Adair County @ Bowling Green
Adair County showed some promise during week four with a win over Metcalfe County, but Bowling Green's a tad better than the Hornets.
--Franklin-Simpson @ Breckinridge County
--Logan County @ Allen County-Scottsville
3rd District Games
--Doss @ Bullitt East
Doss has won their first two district games, and are only one game behind Central in the 3rd District standings. A loss at Bullitt East would hurt their chances at catching the Yellowjackets.
--Jeffersontown @ North Bullitt
How about J-Town? The Chargers picked up a nice win last week over Waggener, and a win over the Eagles would eliminate North Bullitt from district championship competition.
--Fairdale @ Waggener
--Atherton @ Valley
4th District Games
--Russell County @ Taylor County
With Boyle County and Southwestern not exactly lighting it up, the winner of this game might sneak into a home playoff game, or more. The schedule hasn't tested the Lakers or the Cardinals, but they are a combined 7-3.
6th District Games
--Harrison County @ Lexington Catholic
Catholic is in control of the 6th District after a win at Franklin County, but the Knights can't afford to overlook a solid Harrison County squad.
--Anderson County @ Franklin County
Every district game is a must win now for the Flyers, who must have Catholic lose twice if they hope to play the Knights at home during the playoffs.
--Western Hills @ East Jessamine
--Bourbon County @ West Jessamine
7th District Games
--Letcher County Central @ Rockcastle County
--Knox Central @ Madison Southern
8th District Games
--Boyd County @ Johnson Central
How good is Johnson Central? Would they be a threat to Highlands in the playoffs? Those questions probably won't be answered until Central plays Ashland Blazer, but a convincing win over Boyd County is still important.
And for the rest of 3A's big games...
--Christian County @ Hopkinsville
Many believe Christian County will walk to the 4A state championship game, as regions 1-3 and 6 in 4A are, as compared with 4-5 and 7-8, weak. Hoptown is searching for respect after a tough start. This would be a nice win.
--Corbin @ Pulaski County
Corbin has struggled, but not as badly as Pulaski County. One of these teams will pick up a much needed win on Friday night.
--St. Francis DeSales (OH) @ Highlands
Toughest schedule so far this season? The Bluebirds would be a nice choice, as they've seen Dixie Heights, Conner, Southwestern, Cincy Elder, St. Francis DeSales and St. X.
Game of the Week
--Pleasure Ridge Park @ Central
Any other week, this would be the game to see in Louisville. Central is starting to seperate themselves in 3A's District 3. PRP is looking to place themselves in the St. X-Trinity-Male discussion. Much is on the line in this Louisville battle.
Other '3A' hosted games: Breathitt County @ Lawrence County, Rowan County @ Greenup County
